Anyone who reads my blog will know that I own a jaguar X-type essentially a dressed up Ford Mondao but dressed up by Jaguar.
Well during July my starter motor started playing up taking two or three attempts to start the car, well truth be told I was lazy and put up with it until it jammed in September. I took it to my usual mechanic and had it changed at the princely sum of £260 sadly this spelt the beginning of the end for my fly wheel and a horrendous rattle started.
Putting up with it for as long as possible the time came when it was difficult to change gear and in fairness the clutch was starting to burn out too so I bit the bullet and phoned my local mechanic as he was in the middle of moving he couldn't take on the job. It takes a full day to strip one side of the car to get to the flywheel and clutch assembly.
Through a friend I was put on to BPV on Ely Avenue slough. I phoned them on a Friday and the earliest they could fit me in was Wednesday, not too bad and the price was reasonable considering the ampout of work involved £450 most other places were £500 and up. I dropped the car off on Tuesday afternoon knowing it would take a while. Thursday lunch time I got the call saying it was all done and road tested and I could pick it up. All the old parts where there so I could inspect them if I wanted and when I asked if there were any other problems the chief mechanic talked me through the damage on my fly wheel and was ultra professional even though the rain was coming down hard.
Having driven the car for a while after now I can say they did a great job and it drives like new. It's nice and quiet and refined like a Jaguar should be and the gear change is superb like it used to be. I think they even took the time to do some other bits like my window seal that was loose too. I just thought it only fair I should write on here and give them the credit they deserve.
