Rest day, relaxing with movies and amazon prime

January 6th 2017

The Grand Tour
My only rest day of the week because I did overtime yesterday morning, Its Friday morning and as with most Friday mornings of the last 8 weeks or so that means catching up with The Grand Tour on amazon prime. I was a fan of the old Top Gear on the BBC and thought I'd see what their new show was like and in truth its a continuation of Top Gear things have to change for legal reasons I guess. This weeks show is from Germany and is the same mix of childish skits and car reviews. but its a good way to while away an hour. I believe you can also find the show on you tube.

MacOs Sierra
Midweek I downloaded the new operating system on my MacBook Pro and I'm really impressed with it so far, its a lot more stable than El Capitan. I play Kerbal Space program when I get a chance and in El Capitan it was really unstable and crashed a lot. In Os Sierra its nice and smooth, I can run the tutorials as I progress through the game with out locking up. Siri Is a great addition and he'll pull up web pages and check other items for you at just a click from the task bar. I'm still exploring the integration with my iPhone but the instruction video tells me you can now use a mac and iPhone as a common platform and share items on a common clipboard. So far I'm impressed and its a great addition to my mac and makes it a better experience all round.

Man Up movie poster
It wasn't a film that I'd heard or read about but I decided to take a risk and give it a go, of course I've watched the other big British based romcoms Love Actually, Four weddings and a funeral etc and this one is up along side them. The story is new and refreshing and dynamic at times. Maybe I have an affinity because the characters are a similar age to myself mid 30's but its funny and has a nice pace that guides you through. Its easy to identify with both the main characters and the place they are in their lives. Even the horrendous dates we've all been on are lampooned on screen. of course Simon pegg brings a lot to the screen and he's always a pleasure to watch. I would suggest watching this with your partner and it would be a good date night movie to cuddle up with and enjoy, you might even see yourself in there who knows but defiantly some of the people you work with maybe even socialise with and thats half the fun in itself.

Any thoughts on the new structure of my blog and how it looks now I'm compiling it a bit more logically. Like I said I'm learning and constantly evolving and improving as I go, it'll be nice to look back in a years time and see just how far its come hopefully theres a few of you there with me.

Pay it forward movie poster
You can tell its a lazy day today with a lot of movies and relaxing on the sofa ahead of a busy week to come. I've decided to rent a film from prime that I've heard a lot about and thats been used to start a lot of projects all over the world in a similar vein. I'll give you my thoughts on it after.

I concede, yes its a very good idea and it costs nothing, the premise is that you do 3 life changing acts for people and when they want to repay you, you tell them to pay it forward and that they can never contact you again or mention your act to any one and give you the credit. They just except it and look for ways to pay it forward. When it comes to the film as much as the idea is great, why does Helen Hunt always come across as the same desperate woman in all her roles. By this I mean no one does Helen Hunt panic like her and it always seems to be the same role if not the same character in a different position in life does that make sense !
Let me clarify Mad about you, As good as it gets and Pay it forward she just doesn't have any depth to her acting. Compare her to her co actor in this film Kevin Spacey American Beauty, Sleepers, Usual Suspects they are all vastly different characters and performed with such depth that you could watch all the films back to back and still think its a different person each time. None the less it was a okay film with a good story but I wouldn't rush out to watch it again.
