The truth is different politics and pressure from every direction to do the right thing as someone else see's it, being isolated from others of you age and having you every move watched over. Not being allowed to walk down stairs by yourself lest you trip and fall. Marrying the right prince for yourself but also for your country and its alliances and position. Its not all fun and games its a path of traps and pitfalls that have to be navigated successfully.
All of this requires a strong and determined mind to stick to a path that is true to herself whilst respectful and mindful of everything else. From being the only one in line of succession at the age of 17 to the most powerful woman in the world and Empress of India this film shows you the world in which it all happened. Fans of Downton abby will love this as another window into a similar world.
