Does 24 hold up in the modern world !

I NEED TO KNOW" Jack Bauer shouts into his cell phone as he charges through LA traffic reading his in car monitor bearly looking where he's going. 24 is a product of it's time and I've just watched the first season for the first time. But the world has shifted in that time. Does America's intelligence community keep its high risk prisoners in a random field on the outskirts of LA ? No we know this now they're either locked in a tin shack at Guantanamo bay or in the custody of a foreign ally who has no recognition of human rights laws. Wiki leaks and a host of other sources has shown us this. Also if you are in the governments top snatch squad wouldn't they give you more protection than Jacks family get. If it was in the U.K. I could believe they'd be left to there own devices but in the US surely If you pushed the panic button you'd be a high priority they always look out for there own, don't they ? It's hard to put yourself back to a time when a mobile phone could only do voice calls and texts. Even James Bond at this time could drive his car with his phone and yet jack has the crappest phone mint could by that receives no written or GPS details. My thoughts are that they wanted him dead sand that's the underlying theme for the whole brand.
